Winter Solstice Festival Potluck Lunch

It’s that time of the year again, winterrrrrrr! And when the wind is blowing and it’s literally freezing outside, what better way than to get together and fill our hearts with warmth by celebrating the Winter Solstice Festival (or more commonly known as Dongzhi Festival among the Chinese) together! (Just a little bit for your info, the Dongzhi Festival is one of the most important festvals next to CNY celebrated by the Chinese people, and the glutinous rice balls or tang yuan traditionally eaten on this day signify reunion among family.) And that’s just what we are: one big Malaysian family! So, let’s just get together one last time before we all head off to different places for the Christmas break and before the new year comes!

Time: 1pm

Venue: Student Union (tentatively clubroom; any changes will be notified to you guys)

*It’s a potluck! So bring your own food! (Suggestions: light lunch e.g., potato/fruit salad, soup, sandwiches, spring rolls, chicken wings, fast food e.g., KFC, Domino’s, McDonald’s, fried noodles, desserts, drinks, etc.)

You can bring your own food individually or join a group of maximum 3 people. Take note that the list of food above is merely a suggestion and you may bring any other food. Heck, even if it’s frog legs if that’s what you want! Deeparaya Celebration

Dear all,

In an effort to celebrate two of the largest festivals in Malaysia (although belatedly), we are throwing a combined Deeparaya celebration party this coming Saturday! Details are below:

Date: 24 October 2009 (Saturday)

Time: 2pm

Place: Elms Village Event Hall at Student Centre

Sumptuous Malaysian food prepared by us, local Malaysians, will be served and there will be performances to keep you entertained all throughout the afternoon. Food is halal and no, we did not forget about our vegetarian friends as there will be vegetarian dishes provided.

A fee of 3 pounds will be charged per entry, but if you think about it, it’s really not much to pay for great food and awesome company!

This event is open to all, so get out there and invite as many friends as you can! See you there! You’ll definitely not be disappointed!

AGM Meeting

After a whole summer break gap, a reunion and a time to finally bring forth new members as well as new leaders. The main aim was for MSSNI committee 08/09 to step down and make way for the undertaking of the new committee. And also, briefing of the annual report and audited accounts by the Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Light dinner was served after.

An Introduction

Welcome to the Malaysian Students Society of Northern Ireland, Queen’s University Belfast! Or in short, MSSNI QUB.

The sole purpose of this club is to gather and assemble all Malaysian students of QUB. Through this medium, we would be able to get acquainted with our fellow Malaysian peers and to let this be a gentle reminder to ourselves that we are not so far away from home after all.
